In the Town Website project, students apply technology and communication skills as they build a website about their village, town,  or city neighborhood.

The example used in this project  is  a town website, but it can be adapted for  a variety  of purposes.

Project lessons  are designed  to address ISTE National Educational Technology Standards for  students.

Gathering and designing the website content builds citizenship skills, as well as knowledge and understanding about becoming informed citizens.

Teachers can also adapt this project  to build websites with different content.

In the project, students use Dreamweaver MX 2004  to create linked, web-ready pages that contain text, images, hyperlinks, and tables.

Their site includes a home page that introduces the town with links  to four more pages, such as town history, annual events, travel map, and local directory.

Additional pages can easily be added if teachers want students  to expand the project.
